Hi Judy,
It is not considered cheating, but it really is up to you how you feel about doing it. I have hung a couple things off the side but only where I felt I had to for preserving the crop production on that farm. I use it mostly for hiding some facilities that are necessary, but don't fit the theme of the farm. So again it is up to the individual to decide how to use it.
