Default Ongoing changes to Flash Player - FT FLash Enabler Extension

Ongoing changes to Flash Player - FT FLash Enabler Extension

As we get closer to Adobe ending support for flash and your browsers update you may find that the Chrome FarmTown Flash Enabler extension, that could be used with other browsers as well as Chrome, is no longer working and that browers and or devices are preventing flash from being permanently enabled.

When this happens in Chrome, Opera and Edge you will see a picture of the instructions that you need to follow located underneath the Send Gifts and Play tabs where your game would normally be loaded.

Do NOT click on the padlock or anything else in the picture! You need to click on the padlock in the browser address bar! In the following picture we have indicated where that padlock is in the browser address bar and dimmed the picture instructions so you can be sure you are clicking on the correct padlock.

When you click on the padlock a box opens. On the game screen picture it has instructions in English, we have done these pictures so that they can be translated for other languages. The areas you need to click on are indicated with the red arrows:

1. Click on the Padlock in the browser address bar NOT the one in the picture below the Send Gift and Play tabs.

2. Click on the arrow to the right of Flash. It may show Block(default) or Ask. Change it to Allow.

3. Close the box by clicking on the X.

4. Click on the Blue Reload button and your game will load.

However this usually means that the setting is only remembered while you have the browser open. When you close the browser, the next time you open it, you will need to enable flash again. This is likely to also affect any other chrome based browsers and will likely end up happening with all the popular browsers.

The Farm Town Flash Enabler Extension is currently not working with some versions of Opera and has been intermittent in Edge browser as well.

IF the Flash setting is not showing when you click on the padlock, scroll down this post for further instructions for the browser that you are using.

Chrome:

The FarmTown Flash enabler extension is no longer working in Chrome Version 86.0.4240.75. If your Chrome has updated or you update to this version, you will have to enable flash every time you close and reopen Chrome.

When this happens you will see instructions similar to the picture the top of this post, so you just need to follow those instructions.

If you can not see the puzzle piece with Flash next to it, it may be because your browser needs updating or you have a different version of Chrome, so make sure your browser is up to date for the device you are using.

If the Flash setting still does not show when you click on the padlock:
  • Click on Site Settings instead.
  • A new tab will open. Go to that tab.
  • Scroll down the page and under Permissions you will see Flash.
  • If flash is not enabled it will be set to Block (default) or Ask.
  • Click on it and set it to Allow.

  • Go back to the tab that you tried to load the game in and you should see a blue Reload button top left. Click on it and your game will load.

If it doesn't just follow the instructions on the screen to enable flash via the padlock as you should be able to see the flash puzzle icon now.

Opera:

When flash is disabled you will see instructions similar to the picture the top of this post, so you just need to follow those instructions.

If you can not see the puzzle piece with Flash next to it, it may be because your browser needs updating or you have a different version of Opera, so make sure your browser is up to date for the device you are using.

If the Flash setting still does not show when you click on the padlock:
  • Click on Site Settings instead.
  • A new tab will open. Go to that tab.
  • Scroll down the page and under Permissions you will see Flash.
The icon is different to Chrome it's a cube here.
  • If flash is not enabled it will be set to Block (default) or Block.
  • Click on it and set it to Allow.

  • Go back to the tab that you tried to load the game in and you should see a grey Reload button top right. Click on it and your game will load.

If it doesn't just follow the instructions on the screen to enable flash via the padlock as you should be able to see the flash puzzle icon now.

Edge:

When flash is disabled you will see instructions similar to the picture the top of this post, so you just need to follow those instructions.

If you can not see the puzzle piece with Flash next to it, it may be because your browser needs updating or you have a different version of Edge, so make sure your browser is up to date for the device you are using.

If the Flash setting still does not show when you click on the padlock:
  • Click on Site Settings instead.
  • A new tab will open. Go to that tab.
  • Scroll down the page and under Permissions you will see Adobe Flash. The icon is also a puzzle piece, but a different shape than the one you see in the instructions on the game screen.
  • If flash is not enabled it will be set to Block (default) or Block.
  • Click on it and set it to Allow.

  • Go back to the tab that you tried to load the game in and you should see a BLUE Refresh button top right. Click on it and your game will load.

If it doesn't just follow the instructions on the screen to enable flash via the padlock as you should be able to see the flash puzzle icon now.

Firefox: can not use the Chrome Farm Town Flash Enabler extension. Currently version 81.01 is allowing flash to be enabled while the browser is open. However in the past they have changed it so you had to enable it every time you opened the game. We hope this does not go back to that.

Mac users and Safari:

Apple has updated Safari and recently disabled Flash player in it. You can re-enable it but the information we have is that it defaults back to disabled. For that reason, at this time the only thing we can suggest is to use another browser such as Chrome or Firefox.

If you have another browser where the FarmTown Flash Enabler is still working, you may prefer to use that for the time being and perhaps not update the browser unless you have to, but this means if you do not update it then you also don't get any security updates that came with the update. Don't be surprised if the same thing happens with that one as well as we get closer to Adobe ending support for Flash.

Remember: If you decide to try another browser, it has to allow cookies and pops in that browser as well as enabling flash.
