Yes you can add them and move any train around on the same farm.....
When you open click to show the Train, only the freight cars that are out making their rounds will show as "active". Freight cars which you do not own will be shown in very faded images.
At the PENDING box (the option of the two status info boxes on the right), your new purchase will also show... but you will not be able to DISPATCH it by itself.... you need to await the return of the other dispatched cars.
