I look at FB like a local coffee shop -- a great place to say "hi" and exchange a little casual conversation, but not the place to share or discuss anything truly personal. Also, it's possible to only answer a few very basic questions when setting up a FB account. No need to give real birthdate, which is sometimes used as identifying info with our banks and such so not a good thing to make public. No need to enter a specific location. No need to enter educational or work details. True, a smart and determined hacker could probably use FB as an opening to backdoor into our computers and obtain info about us, just as they could use any social networking or list group site or blog; but I'm thinking that most of us lead pretty routine lives and thus aren't primary targets for the serious hackers.
