Hey guys. Just did a wee bit of research on this.
*note - I could NOT find any official statement from facebook nor was there any information concerning this at Snopes and, of course, nothing from the farmtown developers. At this time this very may well be rumor*
Having said that, this is what I found....
"Facebook will require all games on its site to accept payments through its own virtual currency system beginning July 1.
Although game developers won’t have to use Facebook Credits as their only in-game currency."

Like Toranut97 said, Farmtown is not going anywhere, the articles are only referring to facebook credits.
